[Sportschosun Reporter Jung Yu-na] Kim Shin Young of "You Quiz on the Block" opened up about what led her to give up the diet she had maintained for 13 years.
On the 10th, tvN (Total Variety Network) released a preview clip titled "Why did Kim Shin Young give up the diet she had maintained for 13 years?"
The broadcast will feature the story of Kim Shin Young, the "icon of yo-yo dieting," who entered a second golden age after giving up dieting. With her trademark wit, she will recount how her weight, which she had kept for 13 years after losing from 88 kg to 44 kg, returned in just six weeks.
In the preview, Yoo Jae-suk expressed surprise, saying, "Isn't it harder to diet and then maintain it?" Kim Shin Young replied, "I lost weight from 88 kg to 44 kg, but it took exactly six weeks to go back."
Yoo Jae-suk then reacted, saying, "You kept it off for 13 years, but it came back in six weeks? That's so deflating." Kim Shin Young responded, "It felt so fleeting," and honestly admitted, "I was really craving stir-fried pork." She laughed as she recalled, "I made stir-fried pork at home with beef shank, and it was so delicious. After that, I added glass noodles, and then I started eating Matdongsan and banana snacks too." Yoo Jae-suk burst out laughing, saying, "Just hearing that food tour makes six weeks sound long."
Kim Shin Young also mentioned the late Jeon Yu-seong as the decisive reason she let go of her strict diet, leaving a deep emotional impression.
She recalled, "The professor took off his oxygen mask and said, 'Shin Young, I want to eat jjambbong right now, but I can't. So just eat whatever you want and live your life.'"
Holding back tears, Kim Shin Young added, "When I had a panic disorder and couldn't work, he must have worried about me so much." She continued, "After he passed away, I was sorting through his belongings and found a book about panic disorder. It turned out he had personally gone to Daegu to buy it for me after I developed panic disorder."
