[Sportschosun reporter Jung Yoo-na] Broadcaster Yang Mira shared a harrowing episode from the first day of her New York trip with her son, Seoho.
On the 9th, Yang Mira took to social media to recount how she ran into an unexpected lodging problem after arriving in New York.
Yang said, "It wasn't raining when we arrived, and we got a taxi smoothly at the airport," adding, "When we reached our lodging a little after midnight, I felt relieved and thought, 'We got here more easily than I expected.'"
But an unexpected problem soon arose. She explained, "The host said we could get the key by giving our name, but the manager said he didn't know anyone by that name," and added, "He said they only hand over the key by room number here, so he asked me to tell him the room number."
Flustered, Yang immediately tried to contact the host, but it was the middle of the night and she could not get through. Airbnb also could not connect her with the host, leaving the situation unresolved.
In the end, the company said it would issue a full refund and help find another nearby place to stay. Yang said, "It was my first time using Airbnb, so I thought I had been scammed," and added, "I had no idea where my child and I were supposed to sleep in the middle of the night."
Fortunately, around 2 a.m., a reply finally came from the host saying, "I was asleep," and Yang was able to get into the lodging safely.
Yang said she suddenly burst into tears, explaining how grateful she was that the host had contacted her, even if it was late.
Seoho's mature response was especially touching. Yang said, "Seoho, who was startled, told me not to cry and said, 'Thank you for bringing me here,'" adding, "He must have been sleepy and hungry, so I was incredibly thankful." After getting inside, Yang said she gave Seoho a simple meal of instant rice and seaweed, bathed him, and put him to bed. She added, "This is Seoho's first time in New York, and I hope he has a wonderful dream."
Meanwhile, Yang Mira married a businessman in 2018 and has one son and one daughter.
