[Sportschosun Reporter Jo Yoon-sun] The daughter-in-law of actress Jeon Won-ju has shared an update on her life, saying she has been helping with grandchild care in her later years.
On the 23rd, a video titled "Jeon Won-ju, now a great-grandmother, introduces her adorable great-grandchildren" was released on the YouTube channel Jeonwon Joo-in-gong.
In the video, Jeon Won-ju expressed her affection for the great-grandchildren born to her eldest granddaughter, but also confessed, "I should be happy, but honestly, I keep thinking that maybe it's getting close to the time when I die."
Her daughter-in-law also agreed, saying, "The grandchildren are lovely, but like my mother feels, I also feel myself getting older. I'm happy, but I also think, 'I've already become a grandmother, and I'm getting older too.'"
Jeon Won-ju and her daughter-in-law then began making attachment dolls for the grandchildren. Sitting side by side, they sewed and completed the dolls together.
When asked what kind of grandmother Jeon Won-ju is, her daughter-in-law replied, "Her heart is not really like that, but like many women of her generation, she is rather reserved when it comes to expressing affection." She added, "But she is very generous with her granddaughters. She really does a great job of saying things like 'Good job' and 'You're pretty,' and the children truly love their grandmother."
She also revealed that she has been visiting her daughter's home three times a week to help with childcare. "The baby is so adorable, but it's also so exhausting," she said candidly.
When asked whether she receives spending money from her daughter as childcare support, she said, "I heard my friends get 1 million won in allowance. My daughter also handed me an envelope, saying, 'Mom, you've worked hard.' When I looked inside and thought, 'They must be struggling too,' I saw that it contained 200,000 won." She continued, "So I told her, 'Save it for now, and when you have more room later after raising the kids, you can do it then,' and gave it back. I don't take it." She then joked, "Her side of the family really is stingy," drawing laughter.
When the production team shot back, "Like grandmother, like granddaughter," the daughter-in-law added more laughter by saying, "I told my friends, 'My daughter gave me 200,000 won, but I didn't take it,' and they said, 'You're lying. Didn't you miss a zero?'"
