[Sportschosun, Reporter Lee Gae-eun] Actor Hong Seok-cheon shared an episode about living with a former foreign boyfriend and even paying alimony after they broke up.
On the 26th, a video titled "The Life of Being Single" featuring Hong Seok-cheon was released on the YouTube channel "Annyeonghansaemyo."
When the production team asked whether he was single, Hong Seok-cheon said, "I am single, but I am always dating someone. As I get older, the periods when I am dating seem to get longer."
The staff then added, "Once you combine households and date for a long time, don't a lot of things become entangled?" Hong Seok-cheon replied, "That's right. I've been through all of that too," and began speaking candidly about his past relationships.
Hong Seok-cheon said his first boyfriend was Dutch. "We lived together for three and a half years. But when we broke up and he was moving out, he made a list of the things he had brought with him and went looking for them," he recalled. He also said, "My second boyfriend was American. We lived together for four years, then broke up, and he asked me for alimony. He wanted compensation for the four years we had lived together." He drew attention by adding, "So I did give him some at the time. He was someone I loved, and I gave it because I was grateful that he had been by my side during difficult times. Later, I moved to a jeonse home in Nonhyeon-dong, and he was there with a new man. That was someone I knew too."
Meanwhile, Hong Seok-cheon drew major attention in 2000 when he became the first celebrity in South Korea to come out as gay.
