Lee Kyung-kyu Reveals Failure of Premium Chicken Business: "The Market Price Didn't Add Up, So I Sold Them to a Zoo"

[Sportschosun Jung Yoo-na] Broadcaster Lee Kyung-kyu candidly shared the story of the premium chicken business he once ambitiously launched, and how it ended in failure.

On the KBS 2TV variety show "All About My Boss," which aired on the 14th, Lee Kyung-kyu opened up about his failed business venture.

Lee recalled, "I once raised chickens. If you entrust chicks to a farm, they raise them into adults. I ran a business that resold chickens raised on consignment." He added, "I saw a news report saying that if chickens eat crickets, their breast meat becomes plumper and the yolks do not break. I thought, 'This is it,' so I bought crickets. The chickens liked them too, and when I tasted the eggs they laid, the flavor was different."

When Kim Sook told Lee Kyung-kyu that the name he gave the eggs, "Gwitttulan," was "a little bad," he replied bitterly, "That is why it failed."

Lee said, "People just did not buy them. I tried to sell the remaining chickens as food, but they were so expensive to raise that the market price did not match. In the end, I sold them to a zoo as feed. Lions and tigers ate them all."

Kim Sook expressed sympathy, saying, "You raised them by feeding them all that good stuff for people to eat."
