"Cancer, Divorce, and 15 Years of Silence": Hong Jin-kyung Breaks Down in Tears During Lee So-ra's Performance on 'Sora and Jin-kyung' [Full Story]

[Sportschosun Jung Yoo-na] Hong Jin-kyung, on 'Sora and Jin-kyung,' was moved to tears as she listened to Lee So-ra's heartfelt piano performance and was reminded of old wounds.

The final episode of MBC's 'Sora and Jin-kyung,' which aired on the 14th, showed the two women sharing their last heartfelt conversation on Montmartre Hill in Paris, a place where the spirit of artists still lives and breathes, after completing their dreamlike challenge at Paris Fashion Week (PFW).

The two sat down at a restaurant in Montmartre that day. Hong Jin-kyung spotted a piano and asked Lee So-ra, who enjoys playing the instrument, for an impromptu performance. In response, Lee So-ra began playing "Don't Worry, My Dear," saying it was a song "for Jin-kyung."

Through the performance, Lee So-ra comforted her younger friend, who had endured 15 years apart, and Hong Jin-kyung was moved to tears by the sincerity of the gesture.

Earlier, Hong Jin-kyung had confessed, "We all went through major things over the 15 years we couldn't see each other. We got married, had children, battled cancer, got divorced, and went through so much," adding, "Back then, I wanted to give up on life."

After the performance ended, the two looked at each other and cried. Hong Jin-kyung said, "Thinking about everything that happened makes me tear up. I think we went through so many painful things. And because of that, we ended up living without contacting each other."

Lee So-ra then hugged Hong Jin-kyung and said, "It was so hard to open up those wounds. It was better to just bury them and live on." Watching from the studio, Uhm Jung-hwa also shed tears, saying, "I know better than anyone how hard it was for them to choose to be alone during those times when their hearts were hurting so much, so I have so many thoughts."

Lee So-ra continued to comfort Hong Jin-kyung, who thanked her, saying, "I wasn't trying to make you cry, but your sister knows how hard you've had it... Everything will be okay, Jin-kyung." Hong Jin-kyung replied, "I'm truly happy. I'm so glad to see you again, sister, and I feel incredibly happy."
