[Sportschosun Lee Ge-eun] Broadcaster Ham So-won expressed frustration with her ex-husband Jin Hua.
Episode 24 of SBS Plus's "Lee Ho-sun's Refreshing Relief," which aired on the 13th, drew favorable reviews after recording a peak viewership rating of 0.7% per household in the Seoul metropolitan area, according to Nielsen. On the show, Ham appeared as a guest and shared her concerns about whether she should continue arranging meetings between her ex-husband Jin Hua and their daughter.
Ham said that even after divorcing four years ago, she had continued to let her daughter, Hyejeong, meet her father for the child's sake. She explained that she reached out after her daughter began to feel the absence of a father, and that her ex-husband later spent time with the child every weekend and whenever Ham went out to work. Ham admitted that she had once considered remarrying him, but said those feelings disappeared after she had to deal again with his incomprehensible lifestyle.
In particular, Ham said her daughter was diagnosed as obese during a school health checkup and revealed that after meeting her father again, she had "gained about 9 to 10 kg in a year." Ham said she believed it was due to her ex-husband's irregular habits, adding, "When she comes back from seeing her dad, she takes off her pants. She eats so much that the elastic marks are left on her stomach."
Ham also said she was deeply upset after her ex-husband recently failed to keep a promise, adding tearfully, "Nothing is clear." She further shocked the studio by saying that Hyejeong told her to "ignore it" after seeing how angry she had become, to the point that she was reminded of the reasons she had decided to divorce in the past.
Lee Ho-sun, however, said Ham's concerns should not be seen as solely her ex-husband's problem. "My biggest concern is that you keep badmouthing your husband," Lee pointed out, adding, "The child is already trying to keep the mother happy." Lee also noted, "Talking about a father in front of a child is a classic example of what parents should not do," and said Ham had "created a triangle relationship."
Lee went on to say, "You do not have the authority to block a child's right to see their father," and suggested, "If you do not want the child's father disrupting the house, then let them meet outside." She added, "Even if you are dissatisfied at times, a child needs time to breathe with their father," warning that "if you prevent the child from seeing their father, the child may become physically slimmer, but could spend a lifetime starving for love." Her remarks left a heavy impression in the studio.
Lee also pointed to the lack of a shared parenting standard as the core issue in Ham's family. She advised that rather than setting too many rules with her ex-husband, they should establish minimum parenting standards and rules regarding how the child meets her father, as well as food and daily habits.
In closing, Lee told Ham, "You should not become an overbearing mother to your child," and added, "You are raising her well, but you should receive parenting education while doing it." After the counseling session, Ham said, "It feels like I just drank a really refreshing glass of soda. Now that some of the built-up feelings have gone down, I feel like I can breathe again. I would come back anytime," expressing satisfaction and appearing much lighter.
Meanwhile, Ham married Jin Hua, who is 18 years younger than her, in 2018 and they have a daughter, Hyejeong. The couple divorced in 2022.
