[Sportschosun Jo Min-jeong] A famous composer, identified as Mr. A, who has long been active in Korea's music industry, has come under sexual harassment allegations and is now facing disciplinary proceedings.
According to an exclusive report by MBN on the 23rd, Mr. A, a composer in his 60s affiliated with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), is set to face disciplinary action after it was revealed that he made inappropriate remarks toward a female employee at the association.
The issue came to light after the female employee, who claimed to be a victim, reported it directly to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. After verifying the facts, the ministry reportedly asked KOMCA to take appropriate measures.
Mr. A is said to have made sexually harassing remarks toward the employee at company dinners and other gatherings. The employee reportedly continues to suffer psychological distress because of the incident. The situation has drawn even more attention as Mr. A is also said to have admitted to the inappropriate behavior during the investigation.
After confirming the facts, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism instructed KOMCA to separate the alleged perpetrator and the victim in terms of work duties and demanded follow-up measures, including serious disciplinary action. KOMCA plans to hold a board meeting on the day to discuss the level of punishment for Mr. A and measures to prevent a recurrence.
Mr. A is known as a composer who has been active since the mid-1980s and has produced numerous hit songs. He has also served multiple terms as an auditor at KOMCA since 2008 and is said to have played a key role within the association.
Meanwhile, KOMCA will decide on the final disciplinary action and its severity based on the board's discussion.
