Victim's Side of 'Sixth Sense' Issues Statement on First Day of New Season Filming, Saying It Is Allowing Secondary Harm

As tvN's "Sixth Sense" series began filming a new season, the victim's side in last year's sexual harassment controversy issued another public statement and raised fresh concerns.

In a statement released on the 23rd, attorney Lee Eun-ui, the legal representative of the sexual harassment victim A, claimed that the victim, who had worked on the production team for "Sixth Sense: City Tour 2," was forced to leave the program after being sexually assaulted. She added that although B, the person accused of the assault, denies the allegations, "the company internally determined it was workplace sexual harassment and imposed disciplinary action, and prosecutors also indicted him on charges of indecent assault."

Lee also questioned how the case was handled after the incident. He said, "Even during that process, B did not leave the program, and instead a statement was distributed claiming false accusations," adding that "the victim had to endure humiliation and pressure." He further said of the statement released at the time, "I understand it was issued without sufficient consent from the production team," and added that "the atmosphere on set made it difficult to voice opposition."

The criticism was even sharper because the statement came on the very day filming began for the new season of "Sixth Sense."

Lee argued that "while production for the new season was under way, the victim was left isolated within the organization" and that "the company failed to take responsible action." He continued, "After the sexual violence case, the victim's career was effectively halted and personal relationships were severely damaged," adding that "there is a gap between the values the program has promoted and reality." He also said, "It is questionable whether it is justified to push ahead with production of a follow-up season while the alleged perpetrator remains involved," and added that "an explanation is needed about what discussions were held with the cast."

Meanwhile, tvN has moved ahead with a new season, "Sixth Sense: Side B," following "Sixth Sense: City Tour 2." The first day of filming took place on the day in question, with producer-director Sang-Eun Park in charge of directing and Jeong Chul-min serving as chief producer.

Meanwhile, the case involving B's indecent assault charges is currently under trial. The court is reportedly holding closed-door hearings in consideration of the sensitivity of the matter.
