[Sportschosun Reporter Jang Jong-ho] Seoul National University Dental Hospital held a joint inauguration and farewell ceremony for its seventh chief, Lee Yong-mu, and its eighth chief, Kim Sung-kyun, at 4 p.m. on the 22nd in the hospital's Hanwha Hall. About 200 people attended the event, including Seoul National University President Ryu Hong Lim and former hospital chiefs, as well as other internal and external guests.
In his farewell remarks, outgoing chief Lee said it had been a valuable time in which the hospital was able to improve its care system by making transparency, stability and efficiency the guiding principles of management. He added, "I ask for your strong support so that Seoul National University Dental Hospital can continue to develop under the leadership of new chief Kim Sung-kyun."
In his inaugural address, new chief Kim said, "With a 100-year history, Seoul National University Dental Hospital is the center of dentistry in South Korea. Since its launch as a special corporation in 2004, it has spent 20 years as a incorporated institution and has established itself as a true national central dental hospital that leads the development of global dental care." He added, "As we enter a new century, I will work to transform Seoul National University Dental Hospital into a hospital trusted by the public and recognized by the world through innovation."
Kim then outlined five innovation goals based on a new vision: "The future of dental care opened by AI innovation, and the realization of world-class oral health for the public."
He said the hospital will first cultivate future dental talent for the AI digital era, introduce an AI-based innovation system for dental care, and support research into future technologies and interdisciplinary studies. He also pledged to strengthen public and essential medical services as a national central dental hospital, expand global cooperation, and continue Seoul National University Dental Hospital's leap forward through sustainable growth management.
Kim also said, "I am grateful that your dedication and passion have helped lead dentistry in South Korea." He added, "I will build a hospital where you can work with pride and a sense of purpose." He then asked everyone to join him so the hospital can grow into a national flagship dental hospital that brightens South Korea's future on the world stage.
Finally, Kim concluded his remarks by saying, "Seoul National University Dental Hospital will always put patients first, fulfill its role and responsibility as a national central dental hospital, and serve as a strong pillar that protects the lives of the public."
