[Sportschosun reporter Lee Ji-hyun] Composer and broadcaster Yoo Jae-hwan has made a fresh start under the stage name Jeonggyeong. After facing controversy, including being fined for indecent assault, he has resumed his music career by forming a mixed-gender band.

Jeonggyeong, whose real name is Yoo Jae-hwan, has formed the mixed-gender band Rose with rookie artist Yoon Ji-yu and has begun full-scale activities.

Jeonggyeong first became known to the public through the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) variety show Infinite Challenge in 2015. He later worked as a singer-songwriter, releasing songs such as "Coffee." Recently, he changed his stage name from UL to Jeonggyeong and has taken on a new musical challenge.

Member Yoon Ji-yu earned a master's degree in postmodern music from the graduate school of Kyung Hee University and made her official debut in October last year. She has built her career as a singer-songwriter and composer by releasing six singles featuring her own songs.

After years of preparation, the two formed the mixed-gender band Rose in February and launched their first activities with the debut single "Faster Than the Wave" on the 12th.

"Faster Than the Wave" captures the refreshing excitement of summer and a sense of free-spirited energy. It vividly expresses hearts racing toward one another under the blue sea and blazing sun. Centered on the message, "Let's run faster than the waves and enjoy this summer," the song heightens its seasonal mood with a cool sound, fast tempo, and addictive melody.

Through this debut track, Rose said it hopes to showcase its own musical identity while bringing excitement and energy to listeners this summer.

Meanwhile, Yoo Jae-hwan was sentenced last year by the Seoul Southern District Court to a fine of 5 million won and 40 hours of mandatory participation in a sexual violence treatment program for indecent assault.

In 2023, Yoo Jae-hwan was accused of recruiting victims by saying, "I will make songs without taking composition fees," then taking money without delivering the songs. He was also accused of indecent assault. At the time, he apologized for the complaints related to songwriting and said he would issue refunds, stating, "It was unrealistic to try to write songs for about 170 people alone." However, he denied the allegations of sexual assault and sexual harassment.

The court, however, found him guilty of indecently assaulting a victim he had met for the first time and imposed a fine. It was reported that the court considered factors such as his lack of prior offenses of the same kind and ordered the fine along with 40 hours of sexual violence treatment.
