[Sportschosun Reporter Lee Ji-hyun] Actress Yoo Ha-na is drawing mixed reactions online after sharing her workout routine on social media following her husband Lee Yong-kyu, a former playing coach for the Kiwoom Heroes, being involved in a drunk-driving accident.
On the 26th, Yoo Ha-na posted several mirror selfies taken at a gym to her Instagram Story without any caption.
In the photos, Yoo Ha-na shared her everyday life as usual, posing after a workout or sitting on the floor for selfies while wearing a sleeveless workout top and leggings. The images showed her in a cap and in black athletic wear, reflecting her casual fitness routine.
However, the post drew attention from some netizens because it was shared not long after her husband Lee Yong-kyu’s disgraceful retirement following the drunk-driving incident.
Some users criticized her, saying, "It is careless to post a peaceful daily life on social media when her husband’s case is such a serious matter." They argued that the public expects family members to reflect and keep a low profile when a relative has done wrong.
Others defended her, saying, "It is excessive to connect a husband’s mistake to his wife’s personal activities." They added, "An adult husband’s wrongdoing should not be blamed on his wife, and sharing her own daily life is a matter of personal freedom."
Earlier, Lee Yong-kyu crashed into several vehicles, including one stopped at a traffic light, while driving under the influence in Guri-si on the 12th. His blood alcohol level at the time was reportedly high enough to warrant license revocation. He was eventually released from his contract with the Kiwoom Heroes and announced his retirement.
Through the club, Lee Yong-kyu said, "I will not make any excuses and deeply reflect on my mistake." He added, "I will faithfully cooperate with the investigation by the relevant authorities and sincerely apologize to the victims of the accident. I will take full responsibility to help restore the damage."
Meanwhile, Yoo Ha-na married Lee Yong-kyu in 2011, and the couple has two sons.
