"Million-Viewer Director" Jang Hang-jun Says the Pressure Is Exploding... "I'm Scared My Past Is Being Dug Up. This Isn't the Life I Wanted"

[Sportschosun, Reporter Lee Gae-eun] Jang Hang-jun said he has felt the pressure since becoming a director of a 10-million-viewer film.

On the 26th episode of KBS2's "Problem Child in House," Yoon Jong-shin and director Jang Hang-jun appeared.

Jang Hang-jun recently won over 16.8 million moviegoers with the film "The Man Who Lives with the King." He candidly said, "Honestly, this wasn't the life I wanted. I should have kept it moderate. I was excited at the start of the box-office run, but then it started to feel scary."

He added, "Things I did in the past were dug up online. But they were exaggerated and made to look like acts of kindness. People call me a good adult, but honestly, looking back, I think I was happiest when the audience count passed 5 million."

He said that made him even more careful about what he says. Jang Hang-jun noted, "My wife always tells me to speak humbly because she's afraid I'll make a mistake. After I became a million-viewer director, anything I said was turned into an article in real time. This isn't the life I wanted. It's exhausting." The panel then warned him, "You should be careful even saying that," and Jang Hang-jun quickly changed his words to, "Thank you," drawing laughter.
