Choi Woo-shik apologizes over discrimination controversy involving Black fan: "I missed you because time was short. I hope we can meet again"

[Sportschosun Kim So-hee] Actor Choi Woo-shik has personally addressed allegations that he discriminated against a Black fan at a fashion show in Paris, France.

On the 28th, Choi posted an English statement on social media to explain the controversy.

He said, "Sorry if I missed you! I tried to sign as many autographs as I could, but time was just too short. I really hope we can meet again next time!"

The statement appeared to be in response to recent online allegations that he had ignored a Black fan.

Earlier, on the 26th, a Black woman posted on social media that she had been racially discriminated against by an actor at the Paris Fashion Show and shared a video of the scene.

Along with the video, she claimed that she had brought a poster and a sign to get an autograph from an actor she had long admired, but that he left after signing only for other fans without even making eye contact with her.

She said, "I had the worst experience at the Paris Fashion Show. I'm not someone who casually says, 'This is racism.' What I don't understand is that he came all the way up to me, but only signed for other fans. I was the only Black person there."

The video quickly led to claims online that the actor was Choi Woo-shik, and criticism followed from some overseas fans. Others, however, said the venue was extremely crowded and that the situation may have happened while he was trying to greet many fans in a short amount of time.

Choi eventually posted his own statement, explaining that there was no intention to discriminate. He expressed regret that he could not attend to every fan within the limited time and apologized for the disappointment.

Meanwhile, Choi attended the AMI 2027 Spring/Summer Collection Show in Paris, France, on the 25th, and is currently continuing filming for his next project, the tvN drama "Whale Star."
