[Sportschosun reporter Lee Woo-joo] Lee Sun-min of 'Malja Show' opened up about the dramatic change in his income after becoming a breakout star.
On the 29th episode of KBS2's 'Malja Show,' comedians Kim Yong-myeong and Lee Sun-min appeared.
Lee Sun-min, who appeared under the nickname "Seo Kang-joon of Mok-dong," introduced himself by saying, "I didn't come up with the nickname myself. I only have Seo Kang-joon's eyes, and these days I'm a single comedian who is being called a 'sure married type.'"
Lee said, "One of the biggest misunderstandings I get is people asking what my wife does. I don't have a wife, so what could she be doing? I don't have children either, but people keep asking how old my kid is." He added with a laugh, "The three things I hear most in my life are, 'Why are your eyes that color?', 'Don't lie about your age,' and 'What does your wife say?'"
Lee, who has also made appearances on major terrestrial variety shows such as 'What Are You Doing When You Play?', 'I Live Alone,' and 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny,' said, "People who would normally just pass by now recognize me a lot, so I really feel how popular I've become lately."
He said the biggest change has been his income, explaining, "My finances have improved a lot. I may not be the right person to say this in front of such great people, but my income has gone up a lot compared with before. It's about ten times higher than it used to be. I think I earn the price of a used car every month. It's the used car I actually drive, a 150,000-kilometer used SUV."
Lee also said he has filmed many commercials. "It's a little embarrassing, but I've done four or five ads. I've worked on things like protein drinks and health supplements," he said. "Thankfully, my schedule is packed with three or four jobs a day. This is my first KBS recording, and I'm truly honored that my first one is 'Malja Show.'"
Kim Young-hee, who had already picked Lee as a favorite long ago after Im Woo-il, said, "I saw him on YouTube and felt so sorry for him. I kept thinking, 'This is someone who needs to make it,' and 'He's so funny.'" She added, "If he weren't married, he would be my perfect ideal type as a man, too. I like people with a broad side and back. I also really like the look of a morning drama lead. But isn't he too much of a tough-guy type?"
