[Sportschosun Jung Bit] Lee Jin-joo PD addressed the provocative concept of a "bed date."

At the production presentation for Netflix's daily variety show "Love Experiment" held on the 23rd at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam, Seoul, Lee said, "A bed date is a device designed to help people open up more when they talk in a relaxed environment."

"Love Experiment" is a dating observation show that captures the instinctive awakening of participants' romantic impulses when they are thrown into unimaginable and bizarre situations.

It is drawing attention as Lee Jin-joo PD's new dating show, following the strong popularity of the "Transit Love" series and "Love Siblings," which were praised for their distinctive concepts, stylish direction, and detailed portrayal of relationships.

"Love Experiment" promises a differentiated kind of entertainment through new dating experiments in each episode. Participants will experience dynamic emotional exchanges with other contestants in unusual situations they have never faced before, with tension and excitement coexisting.

From a "bed date," where a man and a woman meet for the first time and spend time together in bed, to other unprecedented and unimaginable dating experiments, the show is expected to trigger a wide range of psychological changes and uncontrollable shifts in relationships. These high-intensity experiments, along with the subtle chemistry captured among the participants, are already raising expectations that the show will once again produce a large number of viewers who become deeply immersed.

Lee said, "Two of the four experiments have been revealed. We selected the ones that could be carried out quickly and clearly. When casting ordinary participants, we tried to find people suited to each experiment. We did our best, but since we had to test whether people would actually fall in love or not, authenticity was important."

"Transit Love" drew attention with its unusual setup of reunited ex-lovers, while "Love Siblings" became a topic of conversation with its sibling cohabitation format. But once the shows aired, viewers became more deeply invested in the cast members' emotions and relationships than in the concepts themselves. That led to questions about why "bed date" was chosen as the first experiment to be revealed.

Lee explained, "'Transit Love' and 'Love Siblings' have unusual setups, but I thought it was enough if the people involved approached them sincerely and naturally. That is also what I mean by the 'bed date.' When we hold meetings, we do not always meet only in a conference room. Sometimes we meet at home, and I found that conversations often flow better when we are lying down and talking casually."

She added, "I told the participants that if they talked in a relaxed space, they might be able to have softer conversations because of the environment. That explanation made sense to them, and some people agreed to appear on the show."

Charles & Enter added, "I was surprised when I heard it was a 'bed date,' but I knew it would never go in that direction. When Lee Jin-joo PD's dating shows are first announced, there are often a lot of negative reactions, but once they begin, misunderstandings are cleared up and people come to understand human emotions better."

"Love Experiment" will premiere its first and second episodes together on Netflix at 11 a.m. on June 17.
