Yang Jung-a: "I Rushed Into Marriage at 43, and It Ended After Two Years"... Tears Over Her Mother in a Hospital Bed

[Sportschosun Lee Ji-hyun] Actress Yang Jung-a shed tears as she opened up about her divorce and her mother's worsening health.

On the KBS1 program "Let's Live Together with Hwang Shin-hye," which aired on the 10th, Hwang Shin-hye, Shin Gye-sook, and Yang Jung-a had an honest conversation as they shared stories about their family lives.

That day, Yang Jung-a spoke candidly about her marriage, divorce, and her deep affection for her mother, who is currently in a hospital bed, drawing sympathy from viewers.

Yang Jung-a began by saying, "I lived with my parents from the day I was born until I got married, and I was only away from them for about two years while I was briefly married. After my divorce, I moved back into my mom and dad's house." She added, "I got married at 43. I did it too hastily, too quickly."

When Shin Gye-sook asked, "Wasn't that a marriage you entered into when you were mature enough?" Yang Jung-a replied calmly, "I wasn't mature. Even then. I don't think that has anything to do with being mature." Hwang Shin-hye also expressed surprise, saying, "It's surprising that you got married at 43, and even more so that you married at an age when you would later return."

Yang Jung-a married a businessman three years her junior in 2013, but announced their divorce in 2018. At the time, she said they had agreed to divorce at the end of 2017, but on this broadcast she revealed that they had lived together for only about two years after the wedding, underscoring how short the marriage really was.

In particular, Yang Jung-a was moved to tears as she expressed her aching longing for her mother, who is in the hospital. She said, "My wish is for my mom to look into my eyes for just five minutes, call my name, and talk to me like she used to."

"Since last December, my life has essentially come to a stop. After my mother was hospitalized with a spinal fracture, she has been receiving medication treatment," she said. "My younger sibling, a caregiver, and I are taking care of her. I thought she would be home soon, but I never expected her to stay in the hospital this long."

"Until now, I used to prepare for filming with my mom, but now that I'm doing it alone, I miss her even more," she added. "Even when I see only elderly people around my mother's age on the street, I tear up. She is still alive, but I miss her so much. I miss her every day."

After Hwang Shin-hye shared the story of a sister-in-law who has devoted herself to caring for her brother, who was left fully paralyzed after an accident, and said, "Her prayer request is to have one meal facing her husband," Yang Jung-a responded, "She must really love him a lot." She went on to say, "Listening to your story made me realize how precious it is to sit across from someone and share a meal. I miss having even five minutes to look my mom in the eye and talk with her." Her words left a deep impression.
