[Sportschosun reporter Jeong An-ji] Soojin Kang, the cousin of Red Velvet's Seulgi and a YouTuber known as Sukijin, has died in a sudden accident. She was 30.
On the 11th, an obituary comment believed to have been left by a family member was posted on a video on the YouTube channel "Sukijin."
The writer, who identified herself as Soojin's cousin living in the United States, said, "It is with a heavy heart that we share this sudden news with the many people who have always cared for and supported Soojin." She added, "Our beloved Soojin became a star in the sky on June 7 after a sudden accident."
She continued, "Family and friends accompanied Soojin on her final journey." She also pleaded, "We sincerely ask the subscribers who cherished Soojin's YouTube channel to send warm condolences and prayers for her final journey." She added, "Please be with us in your hearts so our family can fully grieve and send Soojin off in peace. Thank you."
Sukijin was Seulgi's cousin, and the two had often shown their close bond to fans. In particular, Sukijin uploaded a video with Seulgi on her YouTube channel on the 29th of last month, saying, "Not Red Velvet's Seulgi, but our older sister Kang Seulgi is here."
But with the sudden news coming just over 10 days later, fans were left in shock. The video and channel have since been flooded with tribute comments such as "I hope this isn't true," "Rest in peace," and "May the deceased rest in peace," as condolences continue to pour in.
