Sung Si-kyung Responds to Criticism Over 'Change Your Stylist' Remarks: "I'd Rather Not Become Stylish"

[Sportschosun, Reporter Kim Jun-seok] Singer Sung Si-kyung spoke directly about the controversy that arose after the release of his YouTube content "Kkumil Tende," including rumors that he should change his stylist and criticism over the stylist's competence.

On the 10th, Sung Si-kyung visited a raw fish restaurant in Geumho-dong, Seoul, through "Sung Si-kyung's Would You Eat," the signature content on his YouTube channel "Sung Si-kyung."

As the conversation naturally turned to fashion during the meal, he began by saying, "Taste and fashion are the same. Everyone has different preferences, so there are bound to be a variety of opinions."

After unveiling his style makeover project "Kkumil Tende" last year, Sung Si-kyung was unexpectedly caught in controversy when some netizens reacted by saying, "He can't dress well" and "Shouldn't he change his stylist?"

At the time, Sung Si-kyung defended his staff, saying, "If I have to change the team just to become stylish, then I'd rather not become stylish," and added, "It's not the stylist's or hair stylist's fault. I'm still overweight, and the problem is my face and hair, which are hard to work with." His comments drew attention for his strong support of the staff.

That day, he also recalled the incident and said with a laugh, "I didn't know much about fashion, so I learned that then. Since I'm overweight and have long arms and legs, I think it was only natural for people to have different opinions about the styling."

He also mentioned that a recent photoshoot, taken after he lost 10 kilograms in two months for a cosmetics model campaign, received a positive response.

Sung Si-kyung said, "After seeing this photoshoot, it seemed like not even 0.5% of people disliked it," and added, "It made me wonder whether it was really about the clothes."

He went on to share his view, saying, "After losing weight and working with a good photographer, I realized that the issue is not whether the clothes are styled well or badly. In the end, the model needs to look good, and everything else comes down to taste."

The stylist who attended the event also said, "After the photoshoot was released, I heard a lot of people asking whether the stylist had changed." Sung Si-kyung dismissed the rumors, saying, "It's the same stylist now as it was then."

He added, "She's not someone who lacks skill, so please don't hate her too much," and joked in his usual style, "Her voice is a little loud, though," drawing laughter.

While accepting criticism directed at himself, Sung Si-kyung's warm loyalty in continuing to defend his staff drew attention.
