[Sportschosun Park Ara-m reporter] Actress and painter Lee Hye-young candidly opened up about the financially difficult period she went through after ending her first marriage.
On the 11th, the YouTube channel "Cantstop Hyeyoung" released a video titled "Lee Hye-young, in her sixth year of cancer treatment, ahead of her fifth follow-up exam."
In the video, Lee Hye-young reflected on life after her divorce and spoke about how difficult that period was. She said, "My first marriage ended in 2005," and added, "After that, I was at a loss, wondering how I was supposed to make a living."
She also revealed that she was suddenly burdened with unexpected financial obligations right after the divorce. "I had a lot of debt under my name at the time," she said. "It was such a hard period that I could barely keep myself together."
"That time became a period of paying back debt," she explained. "From 2006 on, I would work to pay it off, then work again to pay it off once more. That cycle kept repeating."
She recalled, "I really worked nonstop for about seven to eight years. I did drama shoots, home shopping, published books, and took on anything that could make money."
Lee Hye-young married Lee Sang-min in 2004 after a long relationship, but the two went their separate ways the following year.
She remarried in 2011 and has since built a happy family with her daughter.
Meanwhile, Lee Hye-young drew widespread support after revealing that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2021. She continues to manage her health steadily while balancing treatment and daily life.
