On the 12th, Jung posted a photo of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol on his personal account and left the brief message "R.I.P." The phrase, short for "Rest In Peace," is used to pray for the repose of the deceased.
The Thai Royal Family announced in an official statement that Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the eldest daughter of King Vajiralongkorn, died at a hospital in Bangkok.
The princess suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed in late 2022 while visiting Northeastern Thailand. Medical staff later determined that she had developed heart inflammation and arrhythmia caused by a bacterial infection. Although she underwent long-term treatment, she was ultimately unable to recover.
As tributes continue to pour in from both inside and outside Thailand, Jung, who has long maintained a close connection with the country, also drew attention by sharing his condolences.
Jung gained strong popularity among local viewers after starring in the 2017 Thai drama "Love and Lies." In particular, he became the first Korean actor to take the lead role in a Thai drama, drawing widespread attention and expanding his fan base in the country.
Local fans, who have long recognized Jung in Thailand, have also expressed sympathy for his message and continued to voice their condolences for the late princess.
