[Sportschosun reporter Jung An-ji] As Girls' Generation member and actress Choi Soo-young has broken up with actor Jung Kyung-ho after 14 years, a claim has emerged that "signs of the split had already appeared around December last year."
On the 13th, a video titled "After 14 Years of Dating! Signs of a Breakup Between Jung Kyung-ho and Girls' Generation's Sooyoung" was uploaded to the YouTube channel Entertainment Chief Lee Jin-ho.
In the video, Lee Jin-ho spoke with an entertainment reporter about Jung Kyung-ho and Sooyoung, who recently ended their relationship.
When asked about the timing of the breakup, the reporter mentioned the drama "Idol I," in which Choi Soo-young appeared. He said, "Staff members on set described her as looking full of worries and sorrow," adding, "The drama itself had heavy content, so it could have been that she was focusing on the emotions. But in private settings as well, I heard many people say that she seemed unusually low-energy, depressed, and burdened with worries." After the breakup reports came out, staff members reportedly reacted by saying, "Oh, that explains it."
The drama ended late last year, and the reporter said the filming period appears to have been around last summer and fall. He added, "I cannot know whether she had been worrying for several months or whether the breakup happened during filming."
Lee Jin-ho also pointed to Jung Kyung-ho's appearance on Girls' Generation Hyoyeon's YouTube channel in December last year when discussing the timing of the breakup. He said, "Whenever Jung Kyung-ho appeared on broadcasts, he naturally brought up Sooyoung, but this time the name 'Sooyoung' came up only once," adding, "And it was not Jung Kyung-ho who brought it up. Hyoyeon mentioned Sooyoung first, and the conversation followed from there."
It was also claimed that there were differences of opinion among people around both sides when the breakup was being made public.
The reporter said, "People close to Jung Kyung-ho wanted to keep it quiet and move on without announcing the breakup, while those close to Sooyoung had a different view and wanted to wrap it up quickly and make it public soon."
He also drew a line when asked whether Tiffany Young's recent marriage may have affected the couple's relationship.
He said, "In a long-term relationship, the two people probably already planned their vision and future together a long time ago," and added, "I don't think they would suddenly say, 'Why am I not getting married just because a friend got married?'"
Meanwhile, Jung Kyung-ho and Sooyoung had been publicly dating since 2012 and were widely loved as one of the entertainment industry's longest-running couples. However, after about 14 years together, they have recently ended their romantic relationship.
