"Mom, Dad, stop badmouthing each other" ... Ham So-won faces expert criticism over 'unstable parenting' after divorce from Jin Hua

[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] Broadcaster Ham So-won opened up about her relationship with her ex-husband Jin Hua and her complicated feelings toward her 9-year-old daughter, only to break into tears after receiving a sharp warning from an expert.

On the SBS Plus program "Lee Ho-seon's Refreshing Relief," which aired on the 13th, viewers got an update on Ham So-won, who is raising her daughter alone after divorcing her ex-husband Jin Hua, who is 18 years younger than her.

During the show, Ham So-won explained why she decided to divorce, saying, "There was a time when Dad (Jin Hua) was lying around or unable to make money. As the days of fighting at home kept repeating, even going home became stressful." She added, "I did not want to pass that kind of family on to my child."

She also shared her concerns about her relationship with her ex-husband. Ham So-won said, "Our habits and actions did not match at all. I value tidiness and organization, but when Jin Hua comes over, the house gets messy." She continued, "I put up with it for my daughter one day, but now that we are divorced, I wonder if I should cut off contact with my husband for my daughter's sake."

However, counseling expert Lee Ho-seon gently pointed out the problem with Ham So-won's attitude. He said, "What worries me most is that So-won keeps speaking negatively about her ex-husband," adding that it could sound as if she were calling him a terrible father.

He went on to explain, "Even if a mother does not express it directly, a child is already reading her emotions. Your daughter is 9 now, and she is in a position where she is trying to please her mother." He added, "Even if the child likes her father, she has no choice but to go along with her mother in front of her. This is one of the most typical mistakes parents should never make with their children."

Lee Ho-seon was especially firm when he said, "No one has the right to keep a daughter from seeing her father," stressing that parental conflict and a child's relationship with each parent must be considered separately.

As she listened to the expert's heartfelt advice, Ham So-won eventually seemed overwhelmed with emotion and teared up. She appeared deeply moved by the reminder that her daughter's feelings should come before her conflict with her ex-husband.

Meanwhile, Ham So-won married Jin Hua, who is 18 years younger than her, in 2018 and has a daughter. The couple announced their divorce in 2022, but they have continued to draw attention after being seen living together, fueling rumors of a reunion.
