[Sportschosun, Lee Ge-eun] Actress and painter Lee Hye-young spoke about the aftereffects of her lung cancer surgery.
On the 12th, a video titled "Lee Hye-young, in Her Sixth Year of Battling Cancer and Awaiting Her Fifth Follow-up Exam" was released on the YouTube channel "Hye-young Is Unstoppable."
Lee Hye-young said she was diagnosed with lung cancer on her 10th wedding anniversary. "When I was young, I coughed a lot and had a pneumothorax. It was 1.5 cm, but it grew to a little over 2 cm, and when I went to the hospital, they said it was cancer," she said.
"The process of cutting between my ribs and taking out my lung must have been too much for me. After the surgery, it was during the COVID-19 period, so I just stayed home in pain. While enduring the pain, I also developed a cervical disc herniation and a lumbar disc herniation. My body swelled, and I also had problems with my lymph nodes," she added, drawing sympathy.
Lee Hye-young also drew attention when she revealed a family history of cancer. "My father passed away from stomach cancer around the time I got married, and my mother also had stage 3 stomach cancer. Fortunately, my mother received treatment and is doing well, but both of my parents had cancer," she said.
Lee Hye-young said she is now in her fifth year of follow-up exams and is waiting for the results of her final test in August, expressing excitement. "When you get tested, it says, 'You are free!' That makes my heart race. For the past year, I have felt my body gradually getting better," she said with a bright smile.
