[Sportschosun Baek Ji-eun] Lee Jun-young, formerly of U-KISS, will enlist in the military.
On the 15th, Jun posted a handwritten letter on his account and personally shared the news of his enlistment. He also revealed a crumpled sheet of paper and began by saying, "I have spent months and months thinking about how to say this, and after all that, I decided to write it myself. This is already the 10th draft. Haha."
Jun said, "I will enlist on July 21. Until I knew the date, I kept thinking, 'Well, it’s no big deal. I’m just going.' But once I got the date, I started thinking a lot again for the first time in a while. I also spent a lot of time wondering how I should tell my teachers about this first. As I write this down, one letter at a time, I feel my heart getting a little lighter."
He added, "I will return healthy and as myself. Until the day I greet you again, I sincerely hope everyone stays healthy and spends meaningful, happy time in your own places. Thank you always for your love and support. Thank you for reading this long letter. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year x2."
Born in 1997, Jun joined U-KISS as a new member in 2014 and made his debut at the age of 17. He later took first place in KBS2's idol rebooting project, The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project, in 2017 and also promoted as part of the project group UNB. That same year, he played Lee Soo-gyeom, the youngest member of the revenge club, in tvN's Avengers Social Club and drew attention with impressive acting that belied his rookie status. He later won the Best New Actor award at the MBC Drama Awards for Goodbye to Goodbye and went on to appear in Class of Lies, May I Help You, and other works.
He is currently starring in JTBC's Reborn Rookie.
