[Sportschosun Lee Ge-eun] Seulgi of Red Velvet will temporarily pause her personal YouTube activities after the sudden loss of her cousin, YouTuber Sukijin, whose real name was Sookijin.
On the 14th, the production team behind Seulgi's YouTube channel Hi Seulgi posted an announcement saying, "Hi Seulgi will take a two-week break on 6/19 and 6/26. We ask for the generous understanding of Hello Seulgi fans, and we will return with uploads in July."
In response, fans sent Seulgi messages of support and comfort, saying, "I hope you recover and come back stronger," "We'll wait until you're feeling better," and "Take your time. We support you."
Earlier, Sukijin suddenly passed away on June 7 at the age of 30. Through Sukijin's channel, the bereaved family said, "It is with heavy hearts that we share this sudden news with the many people who have always cared for and supported Sookijin. Our beloved Sookijin became a star in the sky on June 7. Family and friends accompanied her on her final journey."
What made the loss even more heartbreaking was that the last video Sukijin uploaded before her death was content featuring Seulgi. On May 29, Sukijin showed her affection for Seulgi and their family bond through a video titled, "Not Red Velvet's Seulgi, but our Seulgi, Kang Seulgi, is here."
