[Sportschosun reporter Jeong An-ji] Model Hong Jin-kyung showed off her sharp shopping instincts during a visit to a flea market in Paris, France.
On the 15th, a video titled "How Hong Jin-kyung, who made her Paris fashion show debut after 30 years, knows how to have fun without regrets" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Study King Jin Jin Jae Hong Jin Kyung."
In the video, Hong Jin-kyung visited a flea market and looked around various vintage furniture pieces and works of art, repeatedly exclaiming, "There’s a place like this in Paris? They sell everything."
While browsing vintage furniture, Hong Jin-kyung found a piece she liked and was shocked when she heard the price. She had briefly misread the price tag and thought it was worth more than 100 million won.
Flustered, Hong Jin-kyung asked, "Why are they selling a 100 million won item at a market?" Her companions explained, "This is more like a gallery." It turned out that Hong had misread the number, and the actual price was around 20 million won. Even so, she remained surprised by the high cost.
She then showed interest in another vintage chair. The shop owner explained, "It is a work by an Italian designer and a product from the 1980s. The two together cost 6,500 euros, or about 11 million won." After sitting in the chair herself, Hong Jin-kyung smiled with satisfaction and jokingly tried to bargain, saying, "Can’t you make it any cheaper?" drawing laughter.
Another vintage chair that caught Hong Jin-kyung’s eye was priced at 9,800 euros for two, or about 18 million won. The shop owner offered to discount it by 800 euros, but Hong honestly responded, "The price isn’t great," making everyone laugh. Still, she added, "These are very famous works, and since they are vintage, I guess that’s why they cost this much. Otherwise, they would have been worth tens of millions of won."
Later, after moving to an indoor store, Hong Jin-kyung once again revealed her urge to shop. "There’s no exit. I’m in big trouble," she said, eventually stopping in front of a piece of art.
The work was a sculpture titled "Cherry Blossom Time," created with black stone by a Belgium-born artist who died in 2023. Captivated by its unique beauty, Hong Jin-kyung decided to buy it after much thought.
The piece later arrived safely at Hong Jin-kyung’s home, drawing attention to her Paris shopping trip as she brought home a work of art with her distinctive eye for style.
