"I’ve Frozen One Embryo": 42-Year-Old Hwang Bo-ra’s Determination Not to Give Up on a Second Child Despite the Risk of Early Menopause

[Sportschosun Jung An-ji] Actress Hwang Bo-ra, 42, expressed her strong desire for a second child despite indicators suggesting a possible risk of early menopause.

On the 16th, a video titled "Could the second one be a son too..? Hwang Bo-ra begins co-parenting with her dog" was uploaded to the YouTube channel Boravariety.

In the video, when an acquaintance asked about her IVF treatment, Hwang said, "I’ve frozen one," revealing that she is storing an embryo.

She then agreed with an acquaintance who said, "One child seems too lonely," and added, "It’s too lonely. Still, two is better," showing her resolve to have a second child despite the challenges of parenting.

When the acquaintance, who is also going through a difficult IVF process and working hard to conceive a second child, said, "A son is lovely, but I hope the second one is a daughter," Hwang replied, "I heard it’s that difficult."

Earlier, Hwang also shared the realities of parenting by posting a travel video from a family trip to Japan. At the time, she was seen flustered when her son lay down on the floor and threw a tantrum, and she spent the trip busy caring for him, drawing sympathy from many parents.

Even so, Hwang has not given up on plans for a second child. Recently, she revealed on her YouTube channel that she visited a hospital while preparing for another pregnancy. She said the test results showed somewhat low ovarian function levels, raising the possibility of early menopause and drawing concern from many.

However, Hwang is reportedly continuing to prepare for a second child without giving up, holding on to hope.

In particular, Hwang explained why she wants a second child, saying, "I thought Woo-in might feel a little lonely. Since I grew up as an only daughter, when it comes to happy times, it doesn’t really matter. But in sad, hard, or difficult times, siblings are essential."

Meanwhile, Hwang married Kim Young-hoon, the second son of actor Kim Yong-gun and the younger brother of actor Ha Jung-woo, in 2022. The couple has one son.
