[Sportschosun Reporter Lee Ji-hyun] Rapper Dok2 broke his long silence to share an update on his life and spoke candidly about the behind-the-scenes story of publicly revealing his relationship with singer Lee Hi.
Dok2 appeared on rapper Dumbfounded's YouTube podcast "Home Room Show," released on the 17th, and talked about everything from his first meeting with Lee Hi to their reunion.
Dok2 said, "We first met through an acquaintance in 2014 and 2015, and we grew close while working on music together for a long time." He added, "I was already preparing to move to the United States, and my health was not good, so I thought I could not start a new relationship." He continued, "I liked Lee Hi, but because I had to leave, I could not take the relationship further." He explained that they spent a long time apart during the COVID-19 pandemic, but grew close again after a performance in London.
Dok2 said, "I am 36 and Lee Hi is 29. It took a big decision to continue a long-distance relationship." He added, "So we decided to reveal our relationship directly through music and a music video." He stressed, "I did not want it to be exposed by paparazzi or the media. I wanted to reveal everything in my own way, at my own timing."
He also expressed his affection for Lee Hi, saying, "I was a fan from the moment we first met," and "She was the biggest source of strength for me during the hardest time in my life." He said, "When I was going through difficult nights until dawn, we got through it by watching sitcoms together," and added, "Now, even when I write songs, her story naturally comes into the lyrics."
Meanwhile, in March, Dok2 and Lee Hi announced news of a new album and confirmed their relationship through the web magazine HIP. The two also formalized the launch of their new agency, 8Eight8High Recordings, and began moving forward as musical partners.
In particular, Lee Hi referred to Dok2 as "my one and only Dok2" and "my man (MY MAN)," while Dok2 posted phrases such as "my lady (MY LADY)" and "so much love," officially beginning their public relationship. Their open expressions of affection have drawn even more attention to the couple.
