[Sportschosun Lee Ji-hyun] Actor Ji Seung-hyun and singer Young Tak's special connection was revealed.
On the episode of KBS 2TV's Fun-Staurant that aired on the 18th, Young Tak, a hometown junior of Ji Seung-hyun, visited him for the second part of Ji Seung-hyun's life in Miryang.
That day, Ji Seung-hyun prepared a heartfelt meal for Young Tak, who had traveled all the way to Miryang. He also explained the story behind the dish he named "Hardship Tteokbokki."
Ji Seung-hyun said, "When I was filming 'Descendants of the Sun,' I thought maybe this wasn't the path for me." At the time, he was in his 10th year since debut. He added, "I filmed 'Descendants of the Sun' in 2015, and it aired in 2016. In 2015, every project I worked on except 'Descendants of the Sun' fell through. So I had no income."
He added, "I lived on allowance from both sets of parents." He continued, "I was wondering whether I should quit acting and was preparing to open a restaurant to make a living. The snack menu I developed myself became 'Hardship Tteokbokki.' I was even looking into actual storefronts and choosing menu names while building the concept."
Young Tak also said that after three failed debuts, he supported himself as a vocal trainer and released "The Reason You Came Out There" with a sense of final desperation. He said, "At the time, I thought it was my last straw, so I kept pushing through. There was a little response, so I ended up making a music video a year after the release. That is why I contacted my brother directly through DM," revealing his connection with Ji Seung-hyun.
The two are senior and junior from the same high school, but they had never met in person. In response to Young Tak's request to appear, Ji Seung-hyun said, "I wondered whether I could be of help," but agreed to appear without hesitation. He added, "Young Tak showed a great deal of courage. That really touched me."
