[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] Yoon Young-mi, a former announcer and now broadcaster, had a frightening accident while traveling in Italy when her yacht broke down in the middle of the sea.
On the 18th, Yoon Young-mi shared an unexpected experience she had while traveling in Taormina and Savoca, Sicily, through her social media account.
According to Yoon Young-mi, she was enjoying a leisurely yacht ride off the coast near Taormina that day.
After anchoring in the middle of the sea and enjoying a swim, the yacht developed a problem just as they were about to move again.
In the end, the yacht became unable to operate normally, and the captain requested help from a nearby vessel. A rescue boat later arrived at the scene, connected the yacht with a rope, and began towing it.
Yoon Young-mi also released a video showing the situation at the time.
The video showed the yacht, stopped on the water, being moved with the help of another vessel. Scenes of the boat rocking heavily during the rescue also captured the tense atmosphere at the scene.
She explained, "After the rescue boat arrived, another boat joined in, and we transferred to the rescue boat before safely heading to the dock."
In particular, Yoon Young-mi said, "It was so scary when the boat was rocking as it moved," and revealed her shock in a caption on the video, writing, "Nearly died on a yacht."
She added, "This became the most memorable episode of my trip to Sicily."
Fortunately, no one was injured. Yoon Young-mi reportedly continued her planned itinerary afterward, visiting Savoca and other sites famous as filming locations for The Godfather.
Meanwhile, Yoon Young-mi entered the broadcasting industry in 1985 as a recruited announcer at Chuncheon MBC. She later moved to SBS in 1991 and worked as one of the network's leading announcers. After leaving the company in 2010, she has continued her career as a freelance broadcaster.
