[Sportschosun Reporter Jeong An-ji] Broadcaster Hyun Young shared her personal investing philosophy, recalling how she once immersed herself in stock and cryptocurrency trading and watched the markets day and night.
On the MBN program Dongchimi, which aired on the 20th, Hyun Young surprised the cast by confessing, "I stayed up all night, 24 hours a day, just to protect my money."
Hyun Young, who said that collecting bankbooks had once been her hobby, explained that the dozens of bankbooks revealed on an entertainment program became a turning point in her life.
She said, "A filming crew came to my house, and while looking around, they found so many bankbooks that I ended up sharing my money-management method. After seeing that, a publisher suggested I write a book." She added, "I wrote it with the idea of teaching young workers the methods I had practiced in an easy way. It became a bestseller, and I earned more than 100 million won in royalties alone."
Hyun Young also said that as the times changed, her investment style changed as well.
She recalled, "The market opened up with stocks and coins, so I shifted from bank deposits to investing. I had focused only on the domestic stock market, then overseas stocks became available. After that, crypto emerged as something new." Hyun Young confessed, "After my broadcasting work and running my company, I would go home, take care of my children, and then lie down to sleep. But from that point on, I would stay up all night, fully absorbed in night trading and crypto investing."
However, her endless study of investing eventually took a toll on her physically. Hyun Young admitted, "I became completely exhausted. I couldn't sleep properly."
Hyun Young recently named personal branding as the investment area she is paying the most attention to.
She said, "An individual can become a brand, own a platform, and turn subscribers into future assets." She added, "These days, after finishing work, I upload content to social media and video platforms at night, write posts, and communicate with people until the sun comes up."
The hosts joked, "Isn't that just as exhausting as when you were into crypto?" But finance expert Kim Kyung-pil said, "She started with savings accounts, moved on to stocks and crypto, and has now reached the stage of investing in herself. The best financial strategy is ultimately to invest in the stock called yourself."
