[Sportschosun Jeong An-ji] Model Lee Hyun-yi drew attention after putting a luxury C-brand bag up for sale at a flea market for 500,000 won.
On the 20th, a video titled "Destroying the market economy... What happens when model Lee Hyun-yi holds a flea market" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Working Mom Lee Hyun-yi.'
In the video, Lee Hyun-yi sorted through her closet to prepare for the flea market and personally selected the items she would sell. She explained her criteria for choosing products, saying, "Clothes I cherish but that do not suit my personal color, or clothes I bought because they were pretty but never really reach for." She added, "They are almost new, or have only been worn once or twice. I am the type who gets fixated on one outfit and wears only that, so the rest are all clean."
While organizing her clothes, Lee Hyun-yi pulled out a luxury P-brand sweatshirt and laughed as she said, "I bought it with my own money. But it is too cropped, so I never wear it. I guess I wanted to look small and cute." She then set it aside as a sale item. Winter coats, luxury bags, shoes, and other items were revealed one after another.
On the day of the flea market, Lee Hyun-yi kept organizing the unexpectedly large amount of merchandise and made people laugh when she said, "I am so tired."
She also answered a question about whether she had much experience with flea markets, saying, "I am selling things very cheaply. You have to sell with the mindset that 'I will never take back anything I brought' if you want to sell everything." She explained her strategy of competing on price.
Her pricing process also drew attention. Lee Hyun-yi said, "You only get a sense for it if you start with high-priced items," and set the luxury C-brand bag at 500,000 won, surprising viewers. She added, "I checked the secondhand market, and it was listed at 1.5 million won. Another bag was listed used for 840,000 won, but I will sell mine for 400,000 won." She then laughed and said, "The concept here is Dongmyo."
Actress Ji So-yeon visited the flea market at the time and was also seen doubting her eyes at the very low price, asking, "Is 500,000 won really right?"
Lee Hyun-yi set her target for the day at 2 million won and added meaning to the event by saying, "The proceeds will be donated to ChildFund Korea, which I have continued to support."
