[Sportschosun, Reporter Kim So-hee] MBC Radio will undergo a major restructuring on the 29th. The overhaul will center on MBC Standard FM (95.9 MHz in the Seoul metropolitan area), with new afternoon programs placed across the schedule and content focused on international issues and science to broaden its listener base.
A new program, "Son Seok-hee's Noon," will launch at 12:05 p.m. It marks Sohn Suk-hee's return to MBC Radio after 13 years. He hosted "Son Suk-hee's Focus" starting in 2000 and became one of the station's signature voices. His sharp questions and in-depth interviews are expected to draw strong listener interest. The production team said, "In an era when Jensen Huang's arrival time becomes breaking news and a single remark from Donald Trump can shake the stock market, the flow of the world has become part of our daily lives. We will present a distinctive program that observes and analyzes the world with top experts from Korea and abroad."
At 11:05 a.m., the science program "Oh Seung-hoon's Science and Pseudoscience" will air, with its first broadcast set for June 4. Oh Seung-hoon, an announcer who completed doctoral coursework in aerospace engineering at KAIST and also holds a law license, will host the show. As a rare talent with both humanities and science backgrounds, he is expected to explain everyday science, from AI trends to the secrets of space exploration, in an easy and entertaining way. The production team expressed confidence, saying that Oh's unique character and expertise would create tremendous synergy.
"Trot Radio," a long-running favorite on MBC Standard FM, will move to a new time slot at 2:20 p.m. on weekdays and 2:10 p.m. on weekends, where it will meet listeners again. Building on the genre's broad popularity across generations, the program aims to deliver lively content in the sleepy early afternoon. "Park Jun-hyung and Park Young-jin's Two O'Clock Show" will bid farewell on June 28.
Meanwhile, some programs are also seeking change through new faces. "News High Kick," the No. 1 radio program in Korea for listener ratings, will be hosted by MBC reporter Jo Seung-won. "Question Mark," which has invited notable figures from various fields for in-depth conversations, will bring in Ajou University professor Kim Kyung-il, a well-known Korean celebrity psychologist, to refresh the format.
FM4U (91.9 MHz in the Seoul metropolitan area) aims to sharpen its identity as a specialized music channel through a late-night reorganization. The 10 p.m. to midnight slot will be renamed "MHZ (Music Highlight Zone)," with "Friendly Friends" airing Monday through Wednesday, "Idol Radio" on Thursday and Friday, and "Spo King Ko Young-bae" on Saturday and Sunday.
MBC Radio's 2026 restructuring will begin at 5 a.m. on June 29. Both MBC Standard FM (95.9 MHz in the Seoul metropolitan area) and FM4U (91.9 MHz in the Seoul metropolitan area) will also be available through Smart Radio Mini. The visual radio broadcasts can be watched on YouTube, TVING, and Wavve.
