[Sportschosun Kim So-hee] Broadcaster No Hong-chul revealed a special connection with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun and expressed deep admiration for him.
On the 23rd, a video titled "Everything About 48-Year-Old No Hong-chul, Who Does Whatever He Wants" was uploaded to the YouTube channel of the Presidential Security Service.
The video included No Hong-chul's reflections on his time working as a one-day security guard with the Presidential Security Service at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. Along with various anecdotes, it also covered his much-talked-about meeting with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun.
That day, No explained how he came to address Chairman Chung casually as "brother."
He said, "I came to like that brother because I was actually closer to his sister first," adding, "I got to know him thanks to her."
He continued, "Hyundai has always done so much to support others. I was deeply moved by that," and added, "They are still sponsoring the women's archery team."
No also recalled the moment and pointed to Chung's thoughtful hospitality.
He said, "The sister I knew was someone who managed Hyundai Resort and other businesses. I saw him invite the entire women's archery team and host them warmly," adding, "That was the first time I met him, and he introduced everyone one by one. He arranged everything at the hotel so we could all get close, have fun, and enjoy ourselves together."
He went on, "He created memories that let us eat good food, sing our hearts out, and spend time together without any formality," and said, "After that, I happened to meet him again, and before I knew it, I was calling him 'brother.'"
In particular, No praised Chung's support style while highlighting the South Korea national archery team's remarkable success.
He said, "There is a reason the archery team keeps sweeping gold medals," adding, "It seems those records are built not only on financial support, but also on encouragement, support, and private time spent together on a human level."
He emphasized that such support gives athletes great strength and leads to strong results, noting that generous backing and sincere interest have helped sustain South Korea's archery competitiveness.
