[Sportschosun reporter Baek Ji-eun] The group Hearts2Hearts has signaled the birth of a "fifth-generation summer queen."

A showcase celebrating the release of Hearts2Hearts' second mini album, "Lemon Tang," was held at 2 p.m. on the 22nd at Blue Square Woori WON Banking Hall in Yongsan District, Seoul.

At the event, Jiwoo said, "I'm happy to greet you with a new album." Carmen, Aina and Jooeun added, "We prepared hard, so please show us lots of interest and love," while Yuha said, "Since this is our first summer song, please give it lots of love."

Hearts2Hearts, made up of Carmen, Jiwoo, Yuha, Stella, Jooeun, Aina, Ian and Yeon, is SM Entertainment's youngest girl group. After debuting in 2025 with "The Chase," the group has been praised for opening a new chapter for fifth-generation girl groups.

The response has been intense. Its previous release, "RUDE!," which came out on Feb. 20, topped Circle Chart's March monthly digital and streaming charts and stayed No. 1 on the weekly streaming chart for five consecutive weeks, sweeping five music show wins. The music video also surpassed 100 million views for the first time for the group.

The group's global fandom also responded. "RUDE!" became the first K-pop girl group song released this year to surpass 100 million cumulative streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform. It also held No. 1 on the Spotify Korea Weekly Top Songs Chart for three consecutive weeks. In addition, it ranked No. 1 for a total of seven weeks on QQ Music's K-pop weekly chart in China and was selected as the best K-pop single of the first quarter of this year on the Trend Peak Chart.

Stella said, "Thanks to all the love we received, we spent the first half of the year busy but happily. I'm glad we achieved goals such as a rookie award and a No. 1 music show win." Yeon said, "I still can't believe and am so grateful that our song is ranking high on the music charts. I think the message that many people can relate to, along with our positive energy, has the power to lift listeners' moods. We also prepared this album in our own color." Ian added, "I was deeply moved by our chart performance and by hearing the singalong during the North American tour for 'RUDE!'"

This new release, "Lemon Tang," comes about four months after the success of "RUDE!"

Yuha said, "We will show our own sparkling energy through refreshing music that suits the summer." Jiwoo explained, "This is an album that is truly devoted to hearts. Every song includes the word 'heart,' and it carries the message of 'us.'" Jooeun added, "We worked hard because we wanted to show music that goes from heart to heart."

The title track, "Lemon Tang," is a dance-pop song that blends a smooth gliding bass line with a bouncy rhythm. As the title suggests, it combines the sourness of a lemon with the sharp, tangy sensation implied by "tang." The lyrics say that when you're alone, you can be sour and sharp like a lemon, but when you and I come together, we become a sweet-and-sour "Lemon Tang." The song carries the message that we should always stay together as "us."

Aina said, "'Lemon Tang' is a summer song that gives you a cool and refreshing burst of energy." Jiwoo noted, "This is the fourth time writer Kenji has worked with us on a title track. We are grateful that she captured the message of 'us' that our team wants to express so well. She wrote the lyrics around 'Lemon Tang' to show that we shine brighter when we are together." Jooeun explained, "The hand motion of squeezing a lemon in the chorus seems to highlight the song's playful energy. The part at the opening that shows our visuals is also a killing point."

Yuha said, "When I first heard the demo, I immediately felt the summer, and I loved that. I thought it was the perfect title track because it best conveys our bright energy." Jooeun added, "We tried hard to show our own performance. It also includes our signature 4-on-4 symmetry and one-line choreography, so please look forward to it."

The album also includes six tracks across a variety of genres that highlight Hearts2Hearts' lively charm, including "15-Love," "Cheoeumtuseongi," "Heart Emoji," "Secret Recipe," and "RUDE!"

On carrying on SM's summer-song legacy, following Girls' Generation's "Genie," f(x)'s "Hot Summer," and Red Velvet's "Red Flavor," Jiwoo said, "We would be happy if we could continue our seniors' legacy. What sets us apart is the cool melody and the emphasis on the message of 'us.'" Yuha replied, "As an eight-member group, each member has a strong vocal color. Our distinct vocal charm is one of our strengths, and I think that comes through even more clearly in 'Lemon Tang.'"

When asked about Hearts2Hearts' own unique "taste," Jiwoo said, "As we've been active since our debut, the members' charms have become so abundant that we can't settle on just one concept. Instead, we're showing many different sides of ourselves. Our taste is like a sparkling drink."
