On the 23rd, Chae Yerin took to her Social Networking Service (SNS) and said, "I was excited for a moment because it was the first time I had ever ranked No. 1 in search terms after eating a lemon on the news, but then I heard I was the announcer with bad breath," adding a laugh-filled comment about the situation.
She also made a witty jab at Kim Dae-ho, adding, "Thanks to senior Dae-ho (?)"
In the photo she shared, she was seen hosting a broadcast with Kim Dae-ho during her past days on MBC's "Live Broadcast This Evening." The two posed side by side, showing off their unchanged senior-junior chemistry.
The nickname "the announcer with bad breath" that Chae Yerin mentioned began with a recent live-broadcast mishap Kim Dae-ho revealed.
Earlier, Kim Dae-ho appeared on SBS's "But Seriously!" and opened up about the most nerve-racking on-air mistake he made during his days as an announcer.
Recalling a live segment in which he was introducing braised chicken feet, he said, "When I was asked how it tasted, I said, 'It smells like feet,' but in that moment it came across as if I was saying the female announcer opposite me had bad breath."
He explained that he had originally intended a pun using the word for chicken feet, but the remark was received as a comment about the female announcer's breath, freezing the studio in an instant.
Kim Dae-ho said, "The announcer was shocked, and the host who had to wrap up the broadcast was flustered," adding, "It ended up being such a mess that I even had to write a report." His story drew laughter.
After the anecdote spread online following the broadcast, it was revealed that the person involved was Chae Yerin. As her own name climbed to the top of real-time search rankings on a web portal, she added to the buzz with a lighthearted response on SNS.
Meanwhile, Chae Yerin began her broadcasting career as a JTBC announcer in 2011 and moved to MBC in 2013, where she has continued to work. She is especially well loved by viewers for her poised delivery and steady news presentation.
