[Sportschosun Kim Soo-hyun] Kim Min-kyung, a publisher’s editor who has rapidly emerged as a rising star on YouTube, spoke about her family’s academic background and household.
The MBC program "Radio Star," which aired on the 24th, featured Lee Ji-young, Kim Dae-ho, Kyung Soo-jin, and Kim Min-kyung in a special episode titled "Everyone Is Fighting for Their Own Beliefs."
Kim Min-kyung, a book editor with six years of experience, has won wide popularity through the Minumsa TV YouTube channel.
Kim Min-kyung, who is now being called a blue-chip figure in the YouTube world, showed her modest side by saying, "People often ask me if I plan to move into broadcasting, but I think the peak of entertainment, 'Radio Star,' would probably be the last stop."
Kim Gu-ra asked, "How about appearing on a dating show?" and Kim Min-kyung replied, "That would be fine. I’m not seeing anyone right now, so I’m open to it."
When asked which program she would like to appear on, Kim Min-kyung answered right away, "Since I’m a working adult, I guess the vibe of 'I Am Solo' would suit me," and Kim Gu-ra joked, "You’ll probably quit your job soon," drawing laughter.
Although Kim Min-kyung is currently one of the hottest names around, she said, "I had a lot of time. I lived as unemployed for six years. There is an expression, 'people who stumble while looking at the stars.' During those six years of job hunting, I watched a lot of content."
Kim Min-kyung said she landed a job safely thanks to her "mother’s biological son," explaining, "My older brother had already built a solid foundation for the family, so he shielded me from a lot of nagging."
She said, "The only thing I have to brag about is my older brother. He graduated from the College of Pharmacy at Seoul National University, then went to law school and is now working as a lawyer at Kim & Chang."
Kim Min-kyung boasted about her brother’s impressive credentials, saying, "I heard only four or five pharmacist-lawyers appear each year."
She added, "Because my brother was doing so well, my parents were lenient even though I spent more than six years preparing for a job."
Now that she has become famous, Kim Min-kyung said she can finally stand a little taller. "I may not have studied as hard as my brother, but I graduated from Korea University," she said.
Kim Gu-ra then became curious about her parents’ jobs, and when he heard that they had retired after working as civil servants, he praised the family by saying, "Your home must smell like books," drawing laughter.
