Director Kwak Kyung-taek's New Film 'My Dad Is a Zombie' Heads to Bucheon... Officially Invited to BIFAN

[Sportschosun reporter Jo Ji-young] The human drama "My Dad Is a Zombie" (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek and Kang Min-woo, produced by Ask Road Film) will have its world premiere in the Fanta-Scape section of the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN).

Marking its 30th anniversary this year, BIFAN will run from July 2 to 12 in the Bucheon area under the slogan "New Era, New Skin." Fanta-Scape, the section to which "My Dad Is a Zombie" was invited, is a newly established non-competitive program created for the festival's 30th edition. It showcases films that push the boundaries of genre.

"My Dad Is a Zombie" tells the story of a bit-part actor whose role of a lifetime turns out to be that of a father. It is a survival human comedy about a zombie specialist who cannot stop acting like a zombie even after the camera stops rolling, all to preserve his son's innocence. The film portrays the lives of unknown actors hidden behind the bright lights, along with the steadfast love of the families that support them, in a humorous yet moving way.

"My Dad Is a Zombie" will meet audiences twice during the festival. At the first screening, held at 1:30 p.m. on July 5 in Theater 5 at CGV Soopung, Yoo Jae-myung, Oh Dal-su, Lee Si-eon, and directors Kwak Kyung-taek and Kang Min-woo will appear for a stage greeting and a GV, or audience Q&A. The child actor who plays the son, Shin Kang-woo, will also join the stage greeting, bringing the father-son chemistry from the screen to the venue. The second screening will take place at 10:30 a.m. on July 10 in Theater 4 at CGV Soopung.

"My Dad Is a Zombie" is a bittersweet story about the life of a bit-part actor specializing in zombie roles, who cannot stop even after the camera turns off in order to protect his son's innocence. The film stars Yoo Jae-myung, Lee Si-eon, Oh Dal-su, Sun Kim, and Park Soo-young. It was co-directed by Kwak Kyung-taek, known for the "Friend" series, "The Classified File," and "Firefighters," along with rookie director Kang Min-woo.
