[Sportschosun Reporter Kim Joon-seok] Broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo brushed off the absurd fake news about a supposed "wedding next May" with his trademark wit and easygoing humor.
In a video released on the YouTube channel Yeouido Yuktwi Club on the 23rd, Jeon met announcer Um Ji-in, who was transformed into her alter ego, Eom Young-ja, and continued a lively conversation.
That day, Um brought up Jeon’s packed broadcast schedule and asked a surprise question: "If you're so busy going back and forth to Mexico for commentary, does your girlfriend understand all of that?"
Jeon replied in embarrassment, saying, "This is the first time I've seen someone ask so bluntly whether I have a girlfriend," and pointed out Um’s offbeat style of hosting, drawing laughter on set.
When Um kept going and asked, "I heard you've set a wedding date for next May," referring to the fake news that had recently spread online, Jeon delivered the decisive comeback as if he had been waiting for it.
Jeon said, "That's right. I'll be holding the wedding at KBS Hall, so come then and catch the bouquet, and let Nam Hyun-jong handle the officiating," playfully answering fake news with a fake response.
When asked, "Who is the bride?" he dismissed the rumor with a joke, saying, "I'm planning to find her starting tomorrow."
Previously, Jeon had been put in an awkward position after a joke he made on the KBS 2TV variety show Boss in the Mirror was twisted into a real marriage rumor.
Rather than reacting emotionally to the fake news, Jeon turned it into entertainment, once again prompting many viewers to say, "That's Jeon Hyun-moo for you."
