[Sportschosun reporter Ahn So-yoon] Fire Fighters will face Whimoon High School in a heated showdown.
Fire Fighters will play their ninth live in-person game of the 2026 season against Whimoon High School at Gocheok Sky Dome on the 28th.
This time, Fire Fighters will take on Whimoon High School, a traditional powerhouse that has written countless chapters in high school baseball history since its founding in 1907. Whimoon High School recorded the first no-hitter in Korean baseball history and the first perfect game in high school baseball history. It is also regarded as one of the top high school teams, having produced 120 professional players, including major leaguer Lee Jung-hoo, as well as Lim Chan-kyu and Park Min-woo.
Whimoon High School also boasts an impressive record, including runner-up finishes in the first half of the 2026 High School Baseball Weekend League Seoul Division B, the second half of the 2025 High School Baseball Weekend League Seoul Division C, and the 59th Presidential Cup National High School Baseball Tournament in 2025. With a dominant one-two pitching duo led by Im Ho-yoon and Kim Jeong-hyeon, as well as catcher Yoo Je-min, who was selected for the High School vs. College All-Star Game, fans are already focusing on Whimoon High School's surging momentum.
Fire Fighters, who added ace closer Seung-hwan Oh and utility infielder Jeong Hoon, are aiming to seize control with a more balanced lineup and pitching staff. In particular, whether Oh will take the mound is a key point to watch, after he stirred up the set with comments in a previous broadcast that revealed his desire to start. It is also drawing attention whether Jeong Hoon, the "part-timer" hoping to become a full-time player, can break through the strong Fire Fighters roster and earn a starting opportunity.
Also drawing interest is the performance of team captain Park Yong-taek, who came from Whimoon High School. He has long expressed his unstoppable love for his alma mater, and now he is set to face his juniors in a no-holds-barred battle. Tension is rising over how Park will respond to the challenge from younger players trying to overcome the wall of a senior.
In the cold world of competition, the match between Fire Fighters and Whimoon High School, with the title of baseball's strongest team on the line, will be held at 2 p.m. on the 28th at Gocheok Sky Dome.
