[Sportschosun Jiyoung Jo] Director Kim Gyu-tae said, "I felt like a fan who was watching artist Choi Min-sik perform in person."
A production press conference for the Netflix series "The Boy at the End of the Line" (written by Jang Myeong-woo and directed by Kim Gyu-tae) was held on the morning of the 24th at Hotel Naru Seoul - MGallery in Mapo District, Seoul. Attending the event were Choi Min-sik, who plays Heo Moon-oh, a cantankerous Korean literature professor trapped in feelings of inferiority and defeat; Choi Hyun-wook, who plays Lee Kang, a mysterious student seated in the back row who shakes up Heo Moon-oh; and director Kim Gyu-tae.
When asked about the casting process for Choi Min-sik, Kim Gyu-tae replied, "I was incredibly happy as a director. I had long wanted to work with Choi Min-sik at least once, and that wish came true. On set, he made the atmosphere cheerful and lively. He has the charm of a pure child, almost boyish, and at times he even has a kind of enlightened look. Watching how much he enjoyed being on set, I really wanted to capture it. And of course, his acting needs no explanation. I felt like a fan witnessing an artist in person, and every moment was thrilling. As a director, I came to respect him deeply and even thought I wanted to be like him. He was the kind of actor you never get tired of seeing, someone who keeps drawing you in."
