Kim Dae-ho, 18 Months After Leaving MBC... "Life Was Better as an Announcer" Despite Negative Reactions, He Has No Regrets

[Sportschosun Jo Yoon-seon Reporter] Kim Dae-ho opened up about his honest feelings after the negative reactions that poured in once he became a freelancer.

The MBC program "Radio Star," which aired on the 24th, was produced as a special episode titled "Everyone Is Fighting for Their Own Convictions." It featured top instructor Lee Ji-young, broadcaster Kim Dae-ho, actress Kyung Soo-jin, and publishing editor Kim Min-kyung. The show was planned by Choi Yoon-jung and directed by Yoon Hye-jin, Hwang Yun-sang, and Byeon Da-hee.

Kim Dae-ho also spoke candidly about being compared with Kian84. After announcing his freelance move, he said he saw many comments claiming that he was copying Kian84. At first, he thought it was fine, but as the remarks kept coming, he admitted that they began to sting without him realizing it. He said it was unfair to be mistaken for a "fake Kian84" just because they were both born in 1984 and showed a natural, everyday lifestyle. Kim Gu-ra defended him by saying, "Why would Kim Dae-ho copy Kian84 when he has nothing to gain from it?" But he then added, "Still, there was some riding on that image," drawing laughter.

He also shared how he felt about the reactions that followed his decision to go freelance. Kim Dae-ho said comments like "Life was better when you were an announcer" and remarks suggesting that his luck had run out made him feel shaken. It has now been a year and a half since he left MBC, and he said it was frustrating to hear such things when there was no way to turn back time. Even so, he stressed that he has never regretted becoming a freelancer, showing the same firm conviction that has defined him.

He also revealed the story behind what was essentially an interview for an MC role at a broadcaster other than MBC. Before being chosen to host the trot audition program "Battle of the Unknown Singers," Kim Dae-ho said he met with the production team and discussed his hosting abilities. He explained that he could not become Kim Sung-joo or Jeon Hyun-moo, but as someone who came from an audition program himself, he could better relate to the desperation of the contestants. He added that his chemistry with Jang Min-ho also helped him settle into the show.

Kim Dae-ho's dream home ambitions were still going strong. He said he had bought another house near the one he already lived in, separating his daily living space from his hobby space. The new place includes a vivarium, sauna, comic room, and movie room. He also said he recently wanted to install a climbing wall inside the house. His image of climbing indoors with his cat surprised everyone. He went on to talk about having actually bid in an auction for an uninhabited island, his wish to build a bunker, and his dream of remodeling a European castle and living there, revealing once again his extraordinary imagination.
