[Sportschosun Jo Yoon-sun] An unexpected update on actor Won Bin has been revealed.
On the 27th episode of MBN's "Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night," Park Geun-hyung and Kai appeared, taking the stage in the play "The Merchant of Venice."
That day, Park said he had once scolded Won Bin in the past. He recalled, "I met Won Bin on the drama 'Kkokji.' He was playing a high school student, but he came with long hair and was reading the script. His pronunciation was not clear either, so I told him, 'Read it again,' but it was still similar. So I harshly told him, 'Cut your hair first,' and then forgot about it."
He continued, "Later, when I went to the set, Won Bin had already cut his hair. His pronunciation had improved too, so I said, 'You can do it, so why didn't you?' and he became shy." He added, "After that, I saw Won Bin suddenly become a star and thought to myself, 'I must have explained it well.'"
Park also expressed regret over the lack of news about Won Bin's next project since the 2010 film "Ajeossi." He said, "I hear through the grapevine that people tell him, 'Actors like you need to come out and do it,' but he still isn't doing anything," expressing his disappointment.
In response, Kim said, "I am close with Won Bin, so I once asked him why he wasn't acting, and he said he wasn't getting any offers, maybe because the image from 'Ajeossi' is too strong."
She added, "I asked him why he was growing out his hair, and he said, 'I am preparing because I don't know what kind of role will come along,'" conveying Won Bin's determination to return with a new project.
After hearing that, Park said, "He's a foolish actor. If you've done something intense, you should challenge yourself with another intense role, but he got stuck there. He needs to break out, but it seems he can't," expressing his regret.
