[Sportschosun reporter Jeong An-ji] Son Min-soo was moved to tears as he expressed his guilt toward his wife, Im Lara, ahead of surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
On the 28th, the YouTube channel Enjoy Couple uploaded a video titled, "I finally had ACL surgery... The honest feelings of parents of twins."
In the video, Son Min-soo cried as he faced surgery for the torn ligament, saying he felt sorry for Im Lara. He recently suffered an ACL injury while playing soccer.
Son Min-soo said, "Husbands should not make their wives suffer," adding, "I felt most sorry to Lara. I will use this as a chance to train harder, build a lower body that won't get injured again, and make up my mind not to do dangerous sports anymore as a father."
After going into the room alone, Son Min-soo eventually burst into tears. He said, "I am crying because I feel so sorry," revealing his guilt over the fact that his wife would have to care for the children alone during his recovery after surgery.
Son Min-soo said, "So many people are struggling because of me at such an important time," and added, "The only thing I can do before surgery is editing, so I was doing that at least." He took on all of the company work himself in an effort to help even a little.
Im Lara tried to comfort him, saying, "You didn't get hurt on purpose, so why are you acting like this? Just don't repeat it." But Son Min-soo kept saying, "I'm sorry," over and over, sinking deeper into self-reproach.
The next day, after being hospitalized for surgery, Son Min-soo said, "I need to treat Im Lara well for the rest of my life," and added, "When I wake up from anesthesia, I will live with the mindset that I have been reborn. From now on, I will never do dangerous sports again."
Im Lara then calmly comforted him, saying, "It was futsal last time, and futsal again this time. It just means that sport is not a good fit for you," and added, "Think of it as learning something valuable. If you go through this once, you will be more careful in life from now on." Her composed response drew attention.
