On the 26th, E-Daily reported that Suga invested in SpaceX before it went public through Link Asset Partners, the first domestic institution to invest in the company.
Citing an investment banking source, the outlet said, "The exact size of the investment has not been confirmed, but he is still believed to hold SpaceX shares and to have generated extraordinary returns."
When SpaceX was still a private company in 2020, its valuation was estimated at about $46 billion, or roughly 71.2 trillion won. It then surged to about $100 billion, or 155 trillion won, in 2021 through fundraising and other investments.
After SpaceX listed on the New York stock market on the 12th, its offering price started at $135 per share, or about 210,000 won. Its market capitalization has reached about $1.77 trillion, or 2,741 trillion won.
As a result, interest in Suga's investment gains has intensified. The outlet noted, "Since Suga is known to have invested in SpaceX before 2022, his return is estimated at around 20 times even on a conservative basis." It added, "If the investment was made around 2020, the return could have reached about 40 times," drawing surprise.
In response, Suga's agency said, "It is difficult to confirm matters related to the artist's personal life," and declined to comment further.
