Golden Blue is expanding into the global market by exporting its whisky, "Golden Blue," to Japan, one of the world's top five whisky-producing countries.

The lineup for its entry into the Japanese market includes two of Golden Blue's signature steady sellers, "Golden Blue The Sappirus" and "Golden Blue The Diamond."

Japan is known for its strict quality standards, deep understanding of whisky, and large consumer market.

As a result, the export is expected to serve as an important opportunity to have the quality and competitiveness of K-whisky tested by local consumers, beyond simply expanding overseas sales.

Ahead of the full-scale product launch, Golden Blue showcased its products at the Tokyo Bar Show, held in Tokyo from Sept. 9 to 10 last month.

The Tokyo Bar Show is a prestigious event attended by professionals and enthusiasts from Japan's whisky and spirits industry. Through the event, Golden Blue highlighted the distinctive taste and flavor of K-whisky and expanded its contact points with local buyers and industry officials.

The company is also pursuing a distribution strategy tailored to local conditions as it targets the Japanese market.

It plans to first build brand awareness in areas with strong familiarity with Korean culture, such as Ōkubo, Akasaka and Shinjuku, and initially enter home-use sales channels centered on major discount stores and key liquor shops in Japan.

It then plans to analyze local consumer reactions and market demand before gradually expanding its sales network nationwide, including into entertainment channels.

A Golden Blue official said, "Exporting to Japan, a whisky powerhouse, is an important test bed for confirming the global competitiveness of our whisky lineup." The official added, "We will introduce Golden Blue's distinctive flavor to discerning Japanese consumers and prove the value and competitiveness of K-whisky through a range of marketing activities that reflect local tastes."
