[Sportschosun Jang Jong-ho] The Korean Industrial Health Association (KIHA)'s Hanmaeum Blood Center held a ceremony at its headquarters in Gunpo on the 11th to mark World Blood Donor Day 2026. It presented awards to individuals and organizations that have helped spread blood donation culture and contribute to a stable blood supply.
A total of 15 individuals and teams received this year's awards for contributions to blood donation. The Minister of Health and Welfare's individual awards went to Jeon Jeong-pyo, a judicial administrative officer at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office; Oh Dae-seong, an employee at Daesung Duct; Choi Seung-hyuk, a manager at Storemax; and Lee Ki-taek, a deputy manager at Kyonggi University (KGU). The group award went to Nexen Tire Corporation.
The President of the Korea Occupational Health Association's individual awards went to Kim Kyung-hee, head of the Jeongdawoon Life Sharing Volunteer Group; Kim Jeong-ae, head of the Namdong Haetsalgadeuk Volunteer Group; Kim Seok, team leader at Gyeongin Women's University; and Yang Hyeon-a, a health manager at LG Innotek in Gwangju. The group award went to DY Deokyang.
The Director of the Hanmaeum Blood Center's individual awards went to Kim Woo-jin, a manager at the SK keyfoundry labor union, and Lee Dong-eun, a regular blood donor. Group awards were presented to Hyundai ITC, the Anyang City Council on Social Welfare, and the Committee for Life of the Social Evangelization Department of the Diocese of Suwon.
After the ceremony, the recipients toured key GMP facilities at the blood center and observed the processing and testing procedures for donated blood.
Hwang Yu-seong, director of the Hanmaeum Blood Center, said, "The dedication and sharing shown by today's award recipients are a meaningful practice of sharing precious lives that brings hope to countless patients." He added, "We sincerely thank all blood donation contributors who have long led efforts to spread blood donation culture."
He also said, "Hanmaeum Blood Center will continue to strengthen respect and support for donors, and do its utmost to build a stable blood supply foundation and expand blood donation culture."
