[Sportschosun reporter Jang Jong-ho] Hana ENT Hospital, led by Lee Sang-deok, has developed and begun operating an integrated management system that applies artificial intelligence to key administrative tasks, including human resources, training, and employee health management.
The system is significant because it combines repetitive and scattered administrative work into a single intelligent platform, enabling faster data-driven decisions and greater efficiency at the same time.
The new system consists of four modules: comprehensive HR management, management of legally required and essential training for medical institutions, employee health checkup management, and the conversational AI data assistant HANA-i. All four modules were developed using AI coding technology, and HANA-i is the core result built directly into the system.
The most notable module is HANA-i, the conversational AI assistant. When employees ask questions in everyday Korean, such as "Show me the list of employees who joined this year," "What is the current staffing status of the nursing team?" or "Who has not completed infection control training?" the AI automatically converts the request into a database query, finds the answer, and explains the meaning in an easy-to-understand way. The results can also be downloaded as an Excel file with a single click, allowing anyone to check the data immediately without any specialized computer knowledge.
Wonjoon Kim, assistant manager at the hospital's IT team, said, "HANA-i was designed for data retrieval only, so modification and deletion are completely blocked. It also has built-in safeguards that automatically prevent access to sensitive personal information such as resident registration numbers and bank account numbers." He added, "We placed the greatest emphasis on ensuring both convenience and security by recording and tracking every certificate issuance, including the issuer, time, and IP address."
The other three modules also automate administrative tasks that had previously relied on manual work. The comprehensive HR management module integrates employee information, photos, career history, and years of service, and automatically prints personnel records and employment certificates. The training management module automatically identifies employees who must complete legally required or essential training based on their job type, such as nurses or doctors, and calculates completion rates by department. The health checkup management module integrates different types of screenings, including general, special, and latent tuberculosis tests, and links examination and imaging results.
Hana ENT Hospital plans to gradually expand the use of AI-based administrative automation, creating an environment where staff can focus on their core duties and patients can receive better services.
