[Sportschosun] Reporter Jang Jong-ho = CHA Ilsan Medical Center, which marked its 6th anniversary since opening, held the ES6 Campaign (Environment, Social, 6th Anniversary) to put ESG values into practice and promote coexistence with the local community.
According to the hospital, the ES6 Campaign combines Environment, Social, and the 6th Anniversary, and was designed to link the meaning of its sixth year since opening with ESG management values. The campaign included a variety of programs, such as employee plogging, medical cost support for vulnerable patients, and pop-up markets and birthday cafes for staff.
On its anniversary, CHA Ilsan Medical Center carried out a plogging event in the area near the hospital. Plogging is an eco-friendly social contribution activity that involves collecting trash while walking or jogging. Hospital director Song Jae-man and other employees took part in the event and helped clean up the area around the hospital.
As interest grows among medical institutions in sustainable operations, including lower carbon emissions, resource conservation, and reduced use of medical supplies, CHA Ilsan Medical Center said the plogging event gave it an opportunity to fulfill its social responsibility as an eco-friendly medical institution and spread ESG management values both inside and outside the hospital.
The hospital also supported surgery costs for a 27-year-old Bangladeshi breast cancer patient, identified as A, who had been left outside the medical safety net. Her treatment had been delayed because of financial difficulties, but the support now allows her to undergo surgery.
The hospital also prepared events for its employees. Together with partner companies inside the hospital, it operated a pop-up market for staff and opened a birthday cafe offering free drinks, giving employees a chance to share in the meaning of the 6th anniversary. The hospital also presented awards to long-serving employees who contributed to its development and expressed its gratitude.
“The 6th anniversary is a day to celebrate the hospital’s growth, but it is also a meaningful time to reflect on what value we are providing to patients and the local community,” said Song Jae-man, hospital director of CHA Ilsan Medical Center. “We will continue to provide specialized medical services, while also practicing the public nature of medicine and our social responsibility so that we can become a hospital where patients and the community grow healthier together.”
